Draped trench coat with yokes

I was aiming for that spy look ā€“ only stripped down to a minimal ā€“ for this trench coat. I remove the collar and hid the buttons and the pockets. The yokes is the main focus, and together with the belt, I hoped to emphasize my non existing waistline. Also, I have a weakness towards gold details, so I added flat studs on the top and bottom of the pocket on each side.

The sleeves was the main struggle when making the coat. I always find it really hard to get them to fit just right, and I still think they look a bit odd. Also I wish I had planned the layout better before cutting the fabric, because I totally forgot to leave fabric for the belt, and ended up with it being slightly on the short side.

Oh well, after all Iā€™m still pretty happy with the end result, and I love the way the fabric flow when I wear it.

Note to self
Remember to save enough fabric for the belt. It would be a shame to have to buy two extra meters of fabric when the rest of the coat is finished.

  1. Very very very beautiful coat! I'm still dreaming about making a sort of a trenchcoat!

    1. Thank you very much, Steffie! I hope to get around to digitalise this pattern one day so I can share how I made it.
