Trumpet skirt with exposed zipper

I have this bright blue trumpet skirt that’s been my go-to skirt for years. But for no apparent reason, it’s gotten to small (go figure). So I had two choices: Go on a diet, or sew myself a replacement. So here it is, a slightly bigger version of my favourite skirt. And as for the diet? I’ll start tomorrow.

I think the trumpet skirt is the perfect mix of the preppy pencil skirt, and a more girly A-line skirt. And you can dress it up and down as you please.

I also made a matching top for the skirt. Actually I made two, but it turned put a two piece set just isn’t very flattering on me. Maybe they’ll look good with a high waisted pants? I better make one to find out!

Also I have a goal of always learn a new technique when I make a new garment. For this on it was the exposed zipper. It wasn’t hard at all!

Here is a video I made on how to sew an exposed zipper I

Note to self
Be careful not to press the seams  to hard.

    1. Thank you, Ivy! I drew the pattern from scratch, so I'm afraid I can't refer you to a pattern. But I will be sharing the pattern for this skirt pretty soon :-).
